Lewis Structure of SO3

Determine the number of valence electrons.
O= 6 * 3= 18
S= 6 * 1= 6
18 + 6= 24 valence electrons

Determine the number of electrons needed.
O= 8 * 3= 24
S= 8 * 1= 8
24 + 8= 32 electrons needed

Determine how many pairs of electrons there will be by subtracting the number of valence electrons from the number of electrons needed.
Electrons needed= 32
Valence electrons= 24
32-24= 4 pairs of electrons

Draw the Lewis Structure, determine the geometry, and the bond angle.
