Mr. Juggins Receives a Surprising Gift

It was a sunny afternoon in the town of Green Meadow, and Mr. Juggins had just finished working in his flower garden. He hurriedly hopped inside his cottage wondering where he had put the dollar bill he found the previous night. "The cookie jar," he told himself, "it has to be in the cookie jar." Once inside the cottage, he yanked the lid off the cookie jar. He was delighted upon looking inside, for there was the dollar bill that he'd found at the town carnival the night before. "Wonderful!" he exclaimed while placing the cookie jar back on the shelf. On his way to the door he grabbed a rubber band, which he used to fasten the dollar bill to his left front leg. "It's too bad bunnies don't have pockets," he thought to himself. He hopped down the steps of his cottage and began the four-block journey to the drug store. This was a journey Mr. Juggins made every Monday for a reason dear to his heart: to buy chocolate.

His fondness for chocolate led him to one drug store in particular: Captain Jolly's Drug Store and Fine Foods. Captain Jolly's sat next to the largest chocolate factory in the world. Every Monday at 8am Captain Jolly would march over to the chocolate factory to meet with his friend, who just happened to be the factory's owner.  They were such good friends, in fact, that he allowed Captain Jolly to buy as much chocolate as he wanted for a quarter of the regular price. Mid-morning, Captain Jolly would finish his visit and return to the store with his usual truckload of chocolate. He and his employees would work the rest of the morning to sort the candy and to display it on the shelves in time for the afternoon rush of customers.

Mr. Juggins was part of this afternoon rush of customers. After hopping his way down the street for nearly 45 minutes, he finally made it to the drug store. Upon his arrival, he received his usual greeting from Captain Jolly. "Ahoy matey!" "Top of the morning to you, Captain Jolly," Mr. Juggins replied with a grin.  He began surveying the store for his favorite chocolate treat, truffles. He had found what he was looking for within a couple of minutes, and was on his way to the check-out counter.

"I see you have your usual truffles, Mr. Juggins," Captain Jolly remarked. "I sure do." Mr. Juggins replied as he reached for his dollar bill. "Oh no," Mr. Juggins exclaimed, "my dollar bill is missing!" Frantically, Mr. Juggins hopped around the store in search of his money. Unfortunately, it was nowhere to be found. Disappointed in himself, Mr. Juggins dropped his head toward the floor and informed Captain Jolly that he'd be heading home without his truffles.

As he made his way to the door, Mr. Juggins felt a tap on his shoulder. He turned around to a surprise that nearly knocked him off his feet. It was retired Senator Bob Dole standing before him with a package of truffles in his right hand. Mr. Juggins anxiously introduced himself. Dole nodded, leaned toward Mr. Juggins, and handed him the truffles. "You are the chosen one, Mr. Juggins. We trust that you will eat these truffles and enjoy their chocolaty goodness to its full extent." Slightly confused by Dole's words, but quite excited to receive a free package of truffles, Mr. Juggins thanked Dole and hopped home. "What a wonderful day this is," Mr. Juggins thought to himself as he opened the front door of his cottage. Flopping onto the living room couch with Dole's mysterious words in the back of his mind, Mr. Juggins tore open the package of truffles.

An hour after he ate the truffles, the digestion process began and Mr. Juggins noticed a slight tingling sensation in his legs. He leaped off the couch and prepared to land on the floor. In this moment of panic, a discovery was made: he could fly.  From this point on, Mr. Juggins became known as Mr. Juggins the Flying Bunny, and he vowed to himself that he would use his new found gift to inspire joy and happiness in just about everyone.
